Above is my entry for this month's A Day Not Wasted Painting Challenge, which I first learned about on Dana Cooper's blog. My own personal church-painting binge seems to be breaking out, as our plein air group painted New Sweden Church on Thursday morning, and will be going to San Antonio next Saturday to paint the historic San Jose mission. In the meantime, time to do my taxes!

Nice job, this one caught my eye as I grew up just a little ways down the road and it is a part of my childhood landscape, including my father's funeral.
FYI I'm pretty sure its Italian style as it was designed to mirror the Pope's private chapel at the Vatican...All of the interior fittings were imported from Italy by Julie Penrose, the wife of one of the early big money guys in Colorado Springs. They built the library, the arts center and much of the Broadmoor area.
I'm going to do this one too.
Oh this is very nice!!!
Awesome job Stephen on what I believe is a very challenging subject because of all those shadows and details in the architecture.
I also adore the dog series. What a wonderful set of paintings lovingly rendered into smile provoking images.
very nice! I like being in the cool shade of this painting!
Great job, Stephen! Love your use of dynamic, bold, color!
I am so attracted to your use of color and light..nice painting
Beautiful and bold, drama at its best!
Beautiful painting, and I like your style on your blog.
This is really beautiful Stephen. Your handling of the light is exquisite!!
First rate! A scroll through your blog is a visual treat. Your work appeals to me on all levels. Great contrast..clean color, nothing fussy. Beautiful church painting..you sold it too inexpensively. :)
Stephen, Your work is very impressive, especially your skill with architecture. I just became your newest follower and I'm looking forward to seeing what you can show me next!
Stephen...great rendition of the Pauline Chapel. It was a fun challenge wasn't it? I am happy to now be acquainted with your work. I really like your use of color and the "crispness" in your pieces.
Great job... esp you handling of the details on a small canvas... well done!
beautiful - like the cast shadows!
