Road Warrior, 6 x 6
SOLD
Having never tried one, I've been keeping an eye out for an old vehicle to paint, and yesterday's PAA paint-out at the Davis Ranch offered several good choices. Besides the other vehicles, there were countless beautiful landscapes to paint on this ranch, which raises Texas Longhorn cattle. I hope to go back out there sometime soon to paint from the "natural world," but on this visit I couldn't pass up this amazingly expressive old road construction truck. It's as if it were relating to me its many stories the entire time I stood before it.

This is definitely a favorite of mine! Fantastic work!
This is great Stephen! I get a real sense of the weight of this old truck. I like the way you positioned it on an angle and filling the frame too...well done!
oh my gosh stephen!! this is Fabulous! did you do it all on site? you should do more - you should do this one bigger - very well done! M
Very nice. You keep getting better and better.
Love the truck, Bro.
This is fantastic, Stephen! Love your composition and colors...hope you find more trucks to paint!
Wow, thank you all for such nice compliments. They are very much appreciated.
This is great, colors, composition, it looks like it is still ready to move it!
I, too, love this little painting! Composition and palette and all of that is great, but what I really like is the harmony of color and the shapes of said colors...as in the shadowed yellow shape behind the cab of the truck and then seeing that color repeated in the background tree mass, the tire rim, lights, inside the cab and so on.
Well, that was the longest run on sentence ever, hope it makes sense...now go back there and paint some longhorns!
I'll chime in with my "I love this" also! You were able to capture the heavy mass of a good ol' working truck that has seen better days but still has it's strength and bulk. Awesome.
Well done, Stephen!
Hi - I'm joining with the crowd, and offering my praise. Fantastic painting. There's a great physicality to the truck. Love it!
