Big. Fat. Donuts.

Big. Fat. Donuts. 6 x 8
SOLD
Hello world! I'm glad to finally have something to post after way too long a layoff. Work has put a crimp in my free hours to paint, but I'm hoping that is going to change. This picture was a commission by a gentleman named Robert Flowers who helped his daughter move to Austin from Atlanta a few months ago. Robert and his wife like to collect paintings from cities they visit and they were intrigued by all the snack trailers to be found around Austin. This is Gourdough's, whose tagline is, you guessed it, "Big. Fat. Donuts." Thank you for the referral, Laurel.

This project had your name all over it. You definitely caught the essence of the food airstreams and I especially love the cast shadow of the umbrella with its red glow reflected in the man's face. So nice! :)

Interesting way of collecting... purchasing a painting from each city you visit.
Love the name of this snack trailer. I have too friends named 'Gordon', and often call them 'Gordo'... now I can call them 'Gourdough' when I see them eating donuts!

Welcome back; I, too, have neglected blogging because of work/life commitments. This is beautiful, always love your strong compositions, this one is especially nice. We have collected a few paintings from some special cities, too; I think it's a great way to bring home a little bit of your vacation.

The light on the gentleman's shirt in the foreground is something special - I love all that is happening in this small canvas including the figure in right side of the canvas - it tells a story. Do you draw out your painting before you start? OH, I'm also appreciating the simplified trees - but who wouldn't?
